On April 10, State School Superintendent Richard Woods announced that 177 graduating seniors from across the State have been recognized as 2024 Georgia Scholars.
Of that total, two students in Glynn County Schools were named. They include Brunswick High seniors Thomas Clay and Caleb Corley.
Through the Georgia Scholar program, the Georgia Department of Education identifies and honors high school seniors who have achieved excellence in school and community life. Students eligible for Georgia Scholar recognition are high school seniors who exhibit excellence in all phases of school life, in community activities, and in the home.
Georgia Scholars are students who have carried exemplary course loads during their four years of high school; who performed excellently in all courses; who successfully participated in interscholastic events at their schools and in their communities; and who have assumed active roles in extracurricular activities sponsored by their schools.
“These 177 Georgia students have made our state proud through their stellar efforts in the classroom and in their communities," Superintendent Woods said. “The Georgia Scholar designation is a recognition of their leadership and diligence. I wish them great success as they continue into their futures and know they will continue to contribute to their communities and to our state."
The program is coordinated by GaDOE’s Office of Communications in partnership with local school districts and schools. Each Georgia Scholar receives a seal for their diploma.
